España desea incrementar
inversiones en Centroamérica
Guatemala, 8 de marzo de 2015.- Con la visita del presidente del gobierno español, Mariano Rajoy, quien llegó el sábado a Guatemala acompañado de una delegación empresarial, se buscará impulsar las inversiones en Centroamérica.
Fuentes oficiales de Guatemala y España coincidieron en que la visita del gobernante español representa una oportunidad ampliar la presencia de capital español en este país y el resto de la región del istmo.
El comisionado presidencial para la Competitividad y la Inversión de Guatemala, Juan Carlos Paiz, afirmó en conferencia de prensa que los rubros comerciales y económicos destacarán en la visita de tres días del gobernante español.
En su visita, que comenzó la noche del sábado, Rajoy se reunirá con el presidente anfitrión, Otto Pérez Molina, y el lunes asistirá a la cumbre de Jefes de Estado y de Gobierno del Sistema de la Integración Centroamericana (SICA).  El funcionario dijo a Notimex que el gobierno guatemalteco elaboró un programa de proyectos de infraestructura que implican inversiones por más de nueve mil millones de dólares.
Indicó que del programa de creación de infraestructura, el sector energético concentra el mayor número de proyectos y de montos de inversión, con unos seis mil millones de dólares.
Entre las iniciativas más relevantes de este sector mencionó la construcción de la red de energía eléctrica, hidroeléctricas y el gasoducto con México (un proyecto de entre 700 y mil millones de dólares).
El comisionado presidencial destacó que los proyectos serán evaluados por las autoridades y empresarios españoles que han expresado su interés en invertir en Guatemala, en especial en el sector energético.
El presidente de la Cámara Oficial de Comercio de España en Guatemala, Rafael Briz, dijo que con la visita de Rajoy se impulsarán los negocios de España con Guatemala que han sido "prósperos y crecientes".
Las inversiones españolas "trasladan al país tecnología y generan fuentes de empleo", resaltó el dirigente empresarial guatemalteco.
Según datos de la sede diplomática, las empresas españolas instaladas en Guatemala generan una cifra de negocios de alrededor de mil millones de dólares, que representa un aporte al Producto Interno Bruto (PIB) de dos por ciento.
Se estima que las empresas españolas en Guatemala proporcionan empleo a más de 20 mil trabajadores guatemaltecos de forma directa e indirecta.
España se sitúa como el principal país europeo con inversiones en Guatemala en los últimos cinco años.
La entrada en vigencia del Acuerdo de Asociación Unión Europea-Centroamérica, a partir de diciembre de 2013, también ha propiciado un aumento en los intercambios comerciales entre Guatemala y España.
El canciller Carlos Raúl Morales recibió al mandatario español el sábado en la sede de la Fuerza Aérea Guatemalteca (FAG).
Luego de la ceremonia de bienvenida en la FAG, el presidente Rajoy y los miembros de su comitiva oficial fueron conducidos a la ciudad de Antigua Guatemala (ubicada a 45 kilómetros al oeste de la capital).
En Antigua Guatemala, centro turístico, cumplirá este domingo las primeras actividades de la visita, que incluyen una evaluación de los proyectos de la cooperación española.
Rajoy y el presidente Pérez Molina, luego de la reunión bilateral del lunes en la ciudad de Guatemala, participarán en la sesión del SICA en un hotel capitalino.
Guatemala ejerce en el primer semestre del año la presidencia pro témpore del SICA, integrado por Guatemala, Honduras, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Belice, Panamá y República Dominicana.
Los presidentes Pérez Molina y Rajoy asistirán también a un foro empresarial, en el que se tratarán las posibilidades de inversiones y negocios en Guatemala y Centroamérica. |
